For two decades, Michael Schneider has been an integral part of UGL, based in the Mackay workshop in Queensland.
His journey began as a boilermaker, progressing through the ranks to leading hand, and most recently, fabrication supervisor, a role he continues to thrive in today.
"UGL has given me the chance to grow, not just in my career but also personally,” Michael shares. “The leadership programs have really helped me improve how I manage and mentor my team."
Michael’s expertise lies predominantly in resources and dragline projects, as well as broader mining sector work. His team also plays a crucial role in maintaining the region’s sugar mills, handling repairs and refurbishments for three mills alongside various external projects from local clients.
"Working at UGL has been more than just a job - it’s been a career built on opportunities, challenges, and teamwork,” Michael reflects. “Every project brings something new, and I take pride in seeing the results of our hard work come to life."
UGL has long standing relationships with some of the world’s largest energy providers. Through innovative engineering and a mobilisation-ready workforce, UGL provides end-to-end structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation services.
Beyond the workshop, Michael enjoys fishing and camping, often taking his caravan on adventures to explore different places.
For Michael, the best part about working at UGL is the people. "The people here at UGL are like a second family. We support each other, and that makes all the difference in enjoying what we do every day.”
