As part of Rail Safety Week, Torrens Connect is playing a key role in promoting safety across Adelaide's rail network. Rail Safety Week serves as an important reminder that safety is a shared responsibility, impacting everyone who interacts with rail systems, whether as industry professionals or everyday commuters.
The campaign, launched in partnership with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), Keolis Downer, and South Australia Police (SAPOL), revolves around the powerful theme "Real life doesn’t rewind”. It aims to drive home the importance of being rail-safe using real-life imagery and footage from near-misses and collisions.
The visuals deliver a strong message about the necessity of being vigilant and cautious around railways. Distractions can lead to tragic accidents, and Rail Safety Week is dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of not paying attention around rail environments.
UGL is a member of the Torrens Connect joint venture operating the Adelaide Metro tram service.
The TrackSAFE Foundation Ltd was established by the Australasian Railway Association and UGL in 2012. It is Australia’s only harm prevention charity focused on reducing deaths, injuries and near hits on the rail network. TrackSAFE also works to improve the wellbeing of rail employees.
Rail Safety Week is TrackSAFE’s annual awareness campaign designed to engage those working in rail and the wider community in knowledge around safe rail practices.
