International Women’s Day is about reflecting on the achievements of women, acknowledging the progress made towards gender equality, and looking at the work that still needs to be done.
This year’s United Nations theme is ‘Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate progress’, and Australia’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘Inspire inclusion’.
At UGL, we’re inspiring inclusion and counting her in through the launch of our Gender Equality Action Plan. This is a three-year plan aiming to progress towards gender balance at UGL.
Our offices and sites across the country celebrated International Women’s Day, hosting morning teas, and some of our employees were speakers at external functions.
At Kangy Angy and Broadmeadow the team was lucky enough to be joined by Monica Walmsley and Josh Lawlor from the Personal Branding Unlocked podcast as guest speakers.
While in North Sydney, Felicity Ross, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at NBN addressed employees alongside our executive sponsor for Women@UGL, Stephen Barrett-White, UGL's General Counsel & Company Secretary.
In Auburn, Managing Director of award-winning public relations consultancy LBPR, Lisa Burling Blake inspired the UGL Unipart team.
UGL employees attended events around the country - including the Zonta Club of Gladstones International Women's Day breakfast in Gladstone, the HunterNet Women’s Day Luncheon in Newcastle, and in Perth a luncheon hosted by Myf Warhurst from ABC TV’s Spicks & Specks.
UGL empowers our women through industry exposure and development opportunities in a secure, inclusive environment. Our Women@UGL initiative brings together all the available initiatives driving the female agenda at UGL under one strategic pillar to provide a consistent platform to elevate women across UGL. We value the benefit of a diverse and inclusive workplace and recognise that attracting, developing and retaining a broad mix of people enriches us as a company.
