UGL is proud to announce the energisation of a 66kV substation for the 35MW/35MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) we’re delivering for Australian energy infrastructure company APA Group in Port Hedland, Western Australia.
The BESS will enable APA's mining customers to use renewable power generation. A Power Purchase Agreement is in place between APA and BHP to use energy from the project to reduce emissions from its iron ore port facilities in the state.
Energisation marks the culmination of extensive design, procurement, construction, and commissioning efforts by UGL’s new energy team and signals that we are nearing completion and handover to APA.
“I’m incredibly proud of the team for working together to achieve energisation. Having shared goals with our client APA has led to a great relationship and positive collaboration.” Brad de San Miguel, UGL, Project Manager, New Energy.
This project enhances energy storage capabilities in the region and contributes to a sustainable energy future for Western Australia. UGL looks forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have on the local community and energy landscape.
