Emily joined UGL as a People and Culture Business Partner in January 2024, based in Sydney, NSW. Since then, her role has expanded to include key responsibilities such as managing talent and succession planning, assisting with annual remuneration reviews, and driving engagement and health check surveys across the entire business.
For Emily, UGL’s strength lies in its diversity. "UGL excels in various sectors — telecommunications, Defence, new energy, transport, and more. They’re constantly looking for new opportunities to grow and are very transparent about what's happening within the company."
One of the major initiatives Emily has been a part of is the talent and succession process, "From this program, we've been able to identify employees for development programs," Emily explains. The goal is to ensure UGL is prepared for future growth by identifying key roles within the business and developing a pipeline of talent ready to step into those positions. "It's about looking ahead, who can fill those critical roles? Are they ready now, or will they be in a few years? From there, we create a development plan to ensure they’re prepared for future opportunities."
Emily credits much of her personal and professional growth to her mentors at UGL. "Luke McKenzie has been a great mentor for me, along with Ashleigh Olds and Raellee Hobson. They're rockstars in their fields — great listeners, honest, and always providing constructive feedback to help me grow."
Emily’s experiences go far beyond the office, she’s traveled extensively, visiting Europe, India, and Nepal, where she even made it to Everest Base Camp.
“UGL is a great place to work,” Emily shares. “The people are lovely, and the company is supportive in helping you grow your career.”
